CASA Licences & RA-Aus Certificates

Great Southern Flying School is both a CASA Licensed General Aviation (GA) Operator, as well as an RAA Recreational Aviation (RA) Operator.

Exceptionally Maintained Planes

Great Southern Flying School operates a mixed fleet of both RAA registered & CASA registered VH aircraft, all maintained to a higher than required to ensure student safety.

Students per Plane

Great Southern Flying School currently has around four students per plane, which means more time in the air for each student.

Students per Instructor

Great Southern Flying School has a number of Instructors, and at present has a Grade One Instructor for every four students.

Experienced Senior Instructors

Great Southern Flying School only has Grade One & Experienced Senior Instructors, meaning EVERY flight is with an experienced & elite pilot.

Fail a Sortie?

Great Southern Flying School only has Grade One & Senior Instructors which reduces the risk of failing a sortie, your Grade One Instructor will work closely with you to work on skills that need refining.

We Train Close to Base

Great Southern Flying School has 2 locations; one in the coastal town of Barwon Heads and the other in rural Bendigo. We conduct training from the moment you are airborne as our training/practise areas are right beside the airports we operate from. You'll enjoy views of the Southern coastline, Great Ocean Rd and Bells Beach in our Barwon Heads training area and Lake Eppalock, Gold mines and farming land from our Bendigo base.

We're Flexible with Your Training

At Great Southern Flying School we are happy to fly when you're able to fly! We can fly on the most beautiful clear day all the way through to a full cloudy, rain and low visibility day. One day a week, once a month, or every day, we work to fit in with your goals & budget.

No Hidden Fees

Great Southern Flying School is a pay as you go Flying School. We don’t do VET Fee loans or low interest loans. If you are looking for somewhere that does, call and let us help you choose the right school for you. At GSFS everything is clear and in plain sight. We have no hidden fees or extras.

Class Leading Theory Training

Great Southern Flying School specialises in Commercial Theory for All Commercial Pilots Licence subjects. We use a mix of computer generated and whiteboard briefs; as well as book and face to face classroom learning. We are available to answer any theory questions for all our students.
